On May 14, the Premier of Ontario announced that public libraries may restore delivery and pickup services as early as May 19, 2020.
While Collingwood Public Library (CPL) appreciates how much library services are valued by the community, CPL is also aware of its responsibility to ensure certain safety protocols are in place before services are restored.
“It is exciting and encouraging to see restrictions lifted on some library services,” says Ken Haigh, the library's CEO. "We know Collingwood loves its library and is sad to see it closed. However, we don’t want to move so quickly that we endanger the health of either patrons or staff. We are currently working on a plan to gradually reintroduce library services as restrictions are lifted. Curbside pick-up will be the first step, and we hope to have the protocols in place soon. We will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made and plans confirmed. We miss our patrons and look forward to seeing them all again.”
In the interim, CPL encourages patrons to continue to enjoy the many online offerings that are available: eBooks, eMagazines, eAudiobooks, databases (like ancestry.ca), children’s songs, stories and crafts, lectures, tech talks, online yoga, etc. These can be found www.collingwoodpubliclibrary.ca and via social media at www.facebook.com/collingwoodpubliclibrary
