Blue Mountain Resort confirmed in a statement today they will suspend all ski operations as of Dec. 26, and staff are asking for patience as they work through refunds and deferrals for guests who have purchased passes and lift tickets.

"We will begin ramping down resort and most village operations, and by 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 26, all lift operations will be closed," states an email from the resort's manager of public relations to CollingwoodToday.

According to the documents released by the provincial government today, outdoor skating trails and rinks are permitted to remain open, but ski hills must close.

It's unclear what activities, if any, will be available at Blue Mountain Resort after Dec. 25.

"We are working to understand and implement requirements that apply to other resort operations," stated Lovell in the email.

The resort is working with guests who have made reservations and will provide refunds for lodging reservations and lift tickets.

According to the resort's email statement, 5X7 passholders can find "deferral information" on the resort website.  According to the policy for Ikon passes, those who do not use their Ikon pass after June 4, 2020 can receive a credit for the purchase of the unused pass toward the purchase of a 2021/22 pass product.

"We anticipate heavy call, email and social media volume over the next several days and appreciate guests' understanding as we work hard to respond to all inquiries," stated Lovell in the email. "While this is a disappointing reality, the health and safety of our employees and guests continue to be the highest priority."
