Ontario Premier Doug Ford to ask legislature for extension of emergency measures until June

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the province has to continue renewing its state of emergency until COVID-19 case numbers drop consistently. 

Ford will ask provincial legislature Tuesday to extend the state of emergency until June 2. 

During Tuesday's address to Ontarians, the premier also announced that details on the next stage in the re-opening of the province's economy will be released to the public in the coming days.

Premier Doug Ford is slated to provide his daily update on COVID-19 at 1:00 p.m. from Queen's Park.

He will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, to make the announcement.
