As Adopt a Shelter Dog Month is coming to an end, we want to showcase a fantastic dog for pet of the week — Owen.

This amazing dog came to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) as a stray. He is a very happy and big boy who loves learning new tricks. We recommended that if you want to adopt Owen, please continue with this kind of mental stimulation.

When he first came to the GTHS, he was a bit nervous around new people, but he has been working hard on this, so he is much more confident. The best part? Once he gets to know you, he will want to give you lots of cuddles. Because Owen is quite big (100 pounds), the GTHS team recommends an adult-only home.

Owen also tends to pull on his leash when he is out for walks — he gets excited to explore his surroundings and sniff whatever he can. Someone who can handle his strength will be important.

During the month of October for Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Owen’s adoption fee is by donation, which includes his neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, and parasite treatments. An adoption counsellor would be happy to speak directly to you about any concerns. Learn more about this incredible dog here.
