She is lacking some confidence, so she needs a lot of positive encouragement and guidance

Keesha

Hi friends, my name is Keesha and I'm a special lady, looking for a special family. But let's start with the basics - I'm about two years old and weigh in at a svelte 70+ lbs hehe

I arrived at the GTHS a little while ago when some things changed for my humans and they needed to find a loving new home for me. So, that's what the GTHS people are here to do!

Please don't feel bad for me though. I've had a great time since being here, have really come out of my shell and have made some progress with my doggie manners and behaviours.

Which is a good segue into me mentioning that it will be VERY important that I find an dog-experienced home. As much as I'd love to go home with just about anyone, in order for me to be successful with my new family, they need to have experience helping doggies like me with certain behaviours.

I guess you could say that I'm a little underexposed and lacking some confidence...what I mean by that is that I feel pretty unsure in almost EVERY new situation I'm put in, so I need A LOT of positive encouragement and guidance with how I need to behave when I experience new things!

If I don't have experienced humans showing me what to do, I can get what they call "reactive" to certain things (mostly this means I bark at stuff, cuz I don't know what else to do). But PLEASE know that I'm not reactive because I'm a mean girl! Promise! It's just because I'm unsure and don't know any better yet.

When you meet me, I am the absolute SWEETEST thing in the whole wide world! My favourite thing to do is cover humans in kisses when I first meet them hehe I'm also a big time cuddler and will try to spend all my time ON your lap if you'd let me! haha (even though the GTHS humans say "no, silly Keesha, you're too big to be a lap dog.")

I'm also learning what it means to have doggie friends and how fun it is to play with them! I've been great with all the guy doggie friends I've met, but sometimes there are lady dogs I meet that I don't really like that much... *shrug*

And you probably noticed the cute picture of me on my bed. I LOVE MY BED. Doggie beds are one of the best things in the whole wide world if you ask me (besides cuddling humans, of course hehe).

Oh, oh! I almost forgot one pretty important thing...the GTHS humans think I'd do best with no tiny humans around. I hope I'm not asking too much, but I'm just REALLY trying to make sure I'm successful in my new home, so all grown ups for this girl please!

Anyways, because the GTHS humans have identified that I'll need a specific owner and someone who is willing to commit to the continued positive training program I've been on here at GTHS, they've placed me in what's called the "Underdog Program."

This means I'm being adopted out with the understanding that I have some behaviours I'm still working through. But don't worry, the GTHS Adoption Team and Dog Care Team will give my potential adopters LOTS of information on what they mean. They've also reduced my adoption fee to $250 to try to help me find my perfect person!

My adoption fee includes my spay, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip.

So, if you're doggie experienced, believe in trust building and positive reinforcement style training and have the time and patience to bring a sweet, love-bug into your home who just needs a little help becoming her best self, then I really think I could be the girl for you.

Please send in your adoption application and the GTHS Adoption Team can tell you lots more about me.

ALL OF THE KISSES,
xoxo Keesha
