Notice- Enhanced Patrols This Weekend for the Opening of Fishing Season
The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that enhanced patrols by the Ontario Provincial Police and Town By-law staff, including foot patrols and ATV patrols, will be happening this weekend at all common fishing locations throughout the Town of The Blue Mountains. Patrols will be focused on anyone trespassing on private property or not following Provincial Stay-at-Home Order outlined in Ontario Regulation 82/20.
“Although fishing is permitted under the current Provincial Stay-at-Home Order, anglers are reminded to be respectful and maintain the appropriate 2-metre physical distancing guideline, and to only gather with members of your own household,” stated Mayor Alar Soever.
In addition, the Province of Ontario is asking individuals to refrain from non-essential travel outside of the region that they reside. For more information on the Provincial Stay-at-Home Order, visit: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/zones-and-restrictions
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has not restricted, delayed or cancelled the Provincial fishing season, or restricted access to Crown Land. Similarly, the Town has not implemented any additional fishing or hunting access restrictions for Town owned lands.
However, as outlined in Ontario Regulation 82/20, the Thornbury Harbour will remain closed to the public, with the exception of repairs or maintenance to boats or watercraft..
