Two new case of COVID-19 reported in Blue Mountains today

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting seven new cases of COVID-19 today. 

The new cases are located in the Blue Mountains (2), Owen Sound (2), South Bruce Peninsula (2) and South Bruce (1).  

This makes a total of four new cases in The Blue Mountains since yesterday after several days of no new cases in the area.

The health unit has reported a total of 769 cases in the region to date, including eight cases that were referred from other health units today. 

There are 40 active cases in both counties combined. 

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 19 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), seven of which are active. 

The health unit has had two deaths related to COVID-19, and there are currently three individuals being hospitalized due to COVID in the region at this time.  

As reported earlier today, the health unit is managing an outbreak that involves four patients at the Owen Sound Hospital. The hospital remains in outbreak status.  

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (8), Southgate (9), Grey Highlands (1), the Town of The Blue Mountains (7), and Meaford (1), Chatsworth (2).  

The health unit is currently tracking 86 high-risk contacts associated with active cases.

Of GBHU’s 769 cumulative cases, 727 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (116); Southgate (94); Grey Highlands (70); West Grey (49); Blue Mountains (53); Hanover (46); Meaford (25); Georgian Bluffs (7); Chatsworth (10). 

To-date GBHU has currently administered 18,871 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. This week, the health unit has focused its vaccine distribution on residents over the age of 75, First Nations communities and high priority healthcare workers.
