The Town of the Blue Mountains (TBM) has yet to implement its paid parking pilot but a town official says it will be in place by August.

“The Town will be installing parking-restriction related signage this week,” says TBM CAO, Shawn Everitt. “The paid parking program will be in place for early August.”

As previously reported, TBM will be charging $5 an hour, at a maximum of four hours for non-residents at Northwinds Beach, Peasemarsh, the Thornbury Harbour, and Lora Bay Park.

Town residents, which have been defined as those permitted to vote in the municipal election in TBM, will not be subject to the parking charges.

“The resident parking passes will be mailed directly as part of a tax bill newsletter update. Passes will also be available for pick up at town hall,” says Tim Hendry, director of communications and economic development for TBM.

A seasonal pass will also be available to residents of neighbouring municipalities, including Clearview, Grey Highlands, Meaford and Collingwood, for $200.

Season pass holders will be subject to the four-hour time limit and passes can be acquired by contacting TBM town hall.

The town has also planned to roll out parking restrictions on surrounding town streets, which are supposed to be in effect June 30 to Oct. 31. A full listing of parking restrictions can be found in on the town website here.

Town staff anticipate having parking-restriction related signage posted before the coming weekend.
