Six new cases of COVID-19 reported in Blue Mountains since Friday

There are currently 165 active COVID-19 cases in both Grey and Bruce Counties, including 33 in the Blue Mountains and 11 in Grey Highlands

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 35 new cases of COVID-19 in the region since Friday, including six new cases in the Blue Mountains. 

The 35 new cases are located in Owen Sound (10), The Blue Mountains (6), Meaford (3), South Bruce (5), Saugeen Shores (3), Brockton (2), Northern Bruce Peninsula (1), South Bruce Peninsula (1), Georgian Bluffs (1), Grey Highlands (1), Kindardine (1), and West Grey (1). 

The health unit has reported a total of 1,095 cases in the region to date. There are 165 active cases in both counties combined, and the GBHU is currently tracking 659 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (42), Southgate (7), Grey Highlands (11), the Town of The Blue Mountains (33), Hanover (9), West Grey (10), Meaford (15), Chatsworth (2) and Georgian Bluffs (2).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 115 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 12 of which are active. 

There have been five deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there are currently four Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized, one in the region and three outside of Grey-Bruce.   

Of GBHU’s 1,095 cumulative cases, 925 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (156), Southgate (111), Blue Mountains (94), Grey Highlands (78), Hanover (57), West Grey (52), Meaford (26), Chatsworth (19) and Georgian Bluffs (11). 

To-date the health unit has administered 47,142 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 8,567 doses, which will be focusing on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
