One new case of COVID-19 reported in Grey Highlands today

There are currently two active COVID cases in Grey Highlands and 12 active cases in the Town of the Blue Mountains

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 in the region in the past 24 hours. 

The three new cases are located in Grey Highlands, Chatsworth and Hanover.  

The health unit has reported a total of 871 cases in the region to date, noting that two previously reported cases have been transferred to other health units in Ontario. 

There are 63 active cases in both counties combined, and the health unit is currently tracking 400 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (10), Southgate (4), Grey Highlands (2), the Town of The Blue Mountains (12), Hanover (5), Chatsworth (3) and Georgian Bluffs (3).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 63 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 21 of which are active. 

There have been four deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there are currently four individuals being hospitalized due to the virus - two locally and two outside of Grey-Bruce.   

The health unit continues to manage an outbreak at the Owen Sound Hospital that was initially reported on March 19

In addition, the health unit reported earlier today that it is working with the Bluewater District School Board to address a confirmed case of COVID at Beaver Valley School in Thornbury in the Town of the Blue Mountains. 

Of GBHU’s 871 cumulative cases, 804 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (134); Southgate (105); Grey Highlands (75); West Grey (49); Blue Mountains (64); Hanover (48); Meaford (26); Georgian Bluffs (8); Chatsworth (16). 

To-date GBHU has currently administered 32,134 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week the health unit will be focusing on vaccine distribution to clients 70 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
