New candidate running in The Blue Mountains

Latest candidate files to run for one of five council seats

The Town of The Blue Mountains has a new candidate for councillor in this fall’s municipal election.

Shawn McKinlay has filed nomination papers to seek a councillor’s seat on the new council to be elected on October 24.

Current councillor Andrea Matrosovs, who is seeking the Mayor’s chair, and Shawn McKinlay are the only candidates declared for The Blue Mountains council.

Eric LaPointe has filed nomination papers for Conseil Scolaire Viamonde Sector 5 trustee position, which includes Bruce, Grey, Simcoe and Dufferin counties.

In the Municipality of Grey Highlands, Dane Nielsen is the only declared candidate. Nielsen is seeking the Deputy Mayor’s seat.

Candidacy nominations opened May 2 and those wishing to run in the election have until August 19 to file their application.
