The Grey Transit Route is offering free fares in the summer months.

Starting the May long weekend, passengers can ride the Grey Transit Route at no cost on weekends throughout the summer on all routes.

Riders traveling on Saturdays or Sundays between May 20 and September 3 will not be required to pay to ride the Grey Transit Route, but are still encouraged to book their rides in advance.

The Grey Transit Route provides the 100,000+ residents of Grey County with a dependable, inexpensive transportation option for travelling within communities and connecting to other transit lines.

The summer program will increase access to the service and encourage residents and visitors to explore alternate travel options while decreasing car traffic in popular areas.

“We’re excited to be able to offer fare free weekends this summer,” said Stephanie Stewart, Community Transportation Manager. “With so many summer events, festivals, and activities in our communities, this provides a great opportunity for our residents to explore in their own backyard.”

The transit route is also expanding, with route 5 beginning summer service to Sauble Beach starting May 20. In addition, a stop in Craigleith will be returning to Route 4 as of June 3.

The Grey Transit Route accepts walk-on passengers, but it is recommended that riders book their ride in advance to ensure a seat. Call 1-226-910-1001 to reserve a seat, or book online here.
