14 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Grey-Bruce today

There are currently 22 active COVID cases in the Blue Mountains and 11 active cases in Grey Highlands

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 14 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today. 

The 14 new cases are located in Owen Sound (5), Brockton (3), Blue Mountains (3), Saugeen Shores (1), West Grey (1), and Grey Highlands (1).

The health unit has reported a total of 1,140 cases in the region to date. There are 127 active cases in both counties combined, and GBHU is currently tracking 663 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (33), Southgate (5), Grey Highlands (11), the Town of The Blue Mountains (22), Hanover (3), West Grey (5), Meaford (11), Chatsworth (2) and Georgian Bluffs (5).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 218 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 66 of which are active. 

There have been five deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined and there are currently five individuals being hospitalized due to the virus. 

Of GBHU’s 1,140 cumulative cases, 1,008 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (177), Southgate (116), Blue Mountains (109), Grey Highlands (82), Hanover (63), West Grey (58), Meaford (35), Chatsworth (20) and Georgian Bluffs (11). 

To-date the health unit has administered 52,755 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 5,850 doses, which will be focusing on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
