13 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Grey-Bruce today

The health unit is currently tracking 664 high-risk contacts in relation to the region’s 160 active COVID-19 cases

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 13 new cases of COVID-19 in the region today. 

The 13 new cases are located in Owen Sound (4), Southgate (3), Georgian Bluffs (2), Meaford (1), The Blue Mountains (1), Grey Highlands (1), and Chatsworth (1).

The health unit has reported a total of 1,107 cases in the region to date. There are 160 active cases in both counties combined, and GBHU is currently tracking 664 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (41), Southgate (9), Grey Highlands (12), the Town of The Blue Mountains (29), Hanover (8), West Grey (10), Meaford (14), Chatsworth (3) and Georgian Bluffs (4).   

GBHU is also reporting the region has had a total of 183 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 73 of which are active. 

There have been five deaths due to COVID-19 in Grey and Bruce combined, and there are currently four Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized, two in the region and two outside of Grey-Bruce.   

Of GBHU’s 1,107 cumulative cases, 942 cases are resolved.

Resolved COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (161), Southgate (111), Blue Mountains (98), Grey Highlands (79), Hanover (58), West Grey (52), Meaford (29), Chatsworth (19) and Georgian Bluffs (11). 

To-date the health unit has administered 47,352 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This week, GBHU has received 4,680 doses, which will be focusing on vaccine distribution to clients 60 years and older, First Nation communities and First Nation clients, and retirement home staff, residents and essential caregivers (second dose).
