Woman wanted on outstanding arrest warrant accidentally dials 911

MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS - On March 5, 2019 at approximately 10:54 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call made from a cell phone in the town of Markdale in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Police attended the residence from which the call was made and spoke with a female who indicated that she had dialled in error while setting up a new phone and that there was no emergency.

Investigation revealed that there was an outstanding arrest warrant for the 43-year-old female held by Barrie Police Service. She was arrested on the strength of the warrant and turned over to Barrie Police.

Police also spoke with a male at the residence who was found to be breaching a condition of his court recognizance by being at that residence. He was subsequently arrested and held for a bail hearing on March 6, 2019.

The 39-year-old Township of Chatsworth male was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for March 8, 2019.
