WASAGA BEACH - The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding residents and local business owners to be wary of anyone contacting them requesting money via telephone.
This week multiple local businesses were contacted by someone who stated that they were the "Wasaga Distribution Company" and were requesting money.
A contact at the Wasaga Hydro Office advised that they are not affiliated to this company and that they will never request payment over the phone.
OPP want to reiterate that people should always look into, and confirm, any claims being made over the phone.
Remember, you can stop phone fraud - Just hang up!
