Wasaga Beach resident faces charges after police seize drugs, weapons in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE – On Feb. 3, 2021 members of the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a car being driven with no rear licence plate exiting from highway #11 onto West Rd., Huntsville.

Police conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Circle K which is located on Hanes Road, Huntsville. Police observed that car did have a front licence plate and their initial investigation showed that the licence plate was stolen.

Further investigation resulted in police locating a quantity of a controlled substance and prohibited weapons. A total of 0.25 grams of fentanyl, an expandable baton and bear spray were seized.

The following people have been charged:

Cory Arra, 41, of Sundridge, ON     

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.       
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - opioid contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act.

Penny Wright, 46, of Wasaga Beach, ON       

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - opioid contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act.  

Jake IRWIN (34), of Dysart, ON      

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - opioid contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act.   
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.      
  • Two counts of possession of prohibited weapon contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

All three accused were released on Undertaking and are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville, Ontario on March 17, 2021.
