Victim of fatal snowmobile crash identified as Clarksburg resident

On Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at approximately 2:46 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Collingwood Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a snowmobile that occurred on 10th Line in The Blue Mountains.

Initial investigation revealed that the snowmobile was travelling southbound on 10th Line. The SUV was facing east having partially entered 10th Line from a private drive. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, the snowmobile lost control, the rider became airborne and collided with the SUV.

Collingwood OPP and other emergency services responded to the scene immediately to assist the parties involved. The rider of the snowmobile, a 56-year-old from Clarksburg, had succumbed to the injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

The driver and the passenger of the SUV did not report any injuries at the time.
