A vehicle got stuck in the snow on a pedestrian trail in Collingwood this morning. This one is located next to Black Ash Creek on the south side of Highway 26.

A vehicle has been stuck in the snow on a pedestrian trail in Collingwood for most of the day.

According to Collingwood OPP, it's something that has been happening more frequently over the past month.

Acting Sergeant Martin Hachey said Collingwood/The Blue Mountains OPP were called to the scene earlier this morning and the occupants and driver of the vehicle were trying to shovel their way out. Police left them to their work.

The car was stuck on a trail the runs along the west side of Black Ash Creek and on the south side of Highway 26, adjacent to the Canadian Tire plaza.

"This happens a couple of times per winter for sure in our area for both pedestrian/snowmobile trails and roads with no winter maintenance," said Hachey.

On Feb. 3, Hachey posted a Tweet to the OPP Central Region Twitter account noting officers were called to a road in The Blue Mountains where a vehicle was stuck. The road is posted with signage indicating there's no winter maintenance. In that case, a tow and skid steer were called to the scene to help remove the vehicle.
