Truck that blows through RIDE check turns out to be stolen

Police are investigating the theft of the truck from a Springwater driveway

Area police are asking for the public's help for an ongoing investigation into the theft of a truck from Springwater Township. 

The saga began at a RIDE check on Seadon Road and Byers Street in Springwater, where, at 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 9, a Ford F-150 and a Mercedes four-door sedan sped through the RIDE check without stopping, according to Huronia West OPP. 

When police called the person listed on the ownership of the F-150, the owner told officers the truck was stolen minutes before the call. The owner of the truck handed in video surveillance footage showing the suspects taking the truck. 

The descriptions of the two suspects in the truck theft investigation are as follows: 

  • One person about 6'3" tall wearing navy blue pants with grey underwear showing at the waist, a black hooded jacket, black ski mask and blue medical-style gloves. 
  • The other person was dressed all in black and wearing a face mask.
