Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges in Wasaga Beach

WASAGA BEACH - On May 3, 2020 at 8:48 p.m., the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint from a member of the public. It was reported that a possible impaired driver was weaving on the roadway, travelling northbound on 45th Street South, in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

An officer located the vehicle and driver in a parking lot on Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach. The officer recognized the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Charles Schell, 56 years of age of Wasaga Beach, Ont., was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
    •    CC 320.14(1)(a) - Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
    •    CC 320.14(1)(b) - Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 2, 2020.
