Thornbury businesses evacuated because of online threat: OPP

The businesses downtown Thornbury were closed for about an hour and a half, police are still investigating

Police have confirmed they evacuated several businesses downtown Thornbury yesterday evening because of a threat to public safety made online. 

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP report the evacuation and temporary closure of the businesses took place shortly after 6 p.m. last night. 

"The threat, targeting the Thornbury area with no specific location, was delivered via an online platform," stated a news release from the OPP. "Investigation is ongoing at this time to determine the source of the threat.

According to the OPP, businesses were allowed to reopen at about 7:30 p.m. and nobody was injured, nor did any incident" take place.
