Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP officers charged a Blue Mountains resident with several criminal charges after an automatic licence plate reader flagged the vehicle for a stolen licence plate.
According to a news release from the OPP, officers stopped a vehicle on Grey Road 19 in The Blue Mountains on Dec. 11 in the afternoon.
"The male driver of the motor vehicle was arrested at scene and upon further investigation was found to be in violation of several provincial offences," states the news release.
The 48-year-old Blue Mountains' resident was subsequently charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (Criminal Code)
- Drive motor vehicle- no licence (Highway Traffic Act)
- Operate motor vehicle - no insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
- Fail to surrender insurance card (Highway Traffic Act)
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
The male was released from custody and is set to appear in Owen Sound court at the end of February.
