Port Elgin man dies in Chatsworth collision

TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH - On July 2, 2018 at approximately 5:15 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Grey Road 3 and Grey Road 40 in the Township of Chatsworth.

Investigation revealed that a Ford vehicle travelling east bound on Grey Road 40 towards Grey Road 3 failed to stop at the posted stop sign resulting in a collision with a Mercedes vehicle travelling south bound on Grey Road 3.

The lone driver of the Ford, 36-year-old Robert Bradley Hillis of Port Elgin, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending physician. A post mortem examination is scheduled for July 3, 2018 in Owen Sound.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 68-year-old male and a 66-year-old female passenger, both from Etobicoke, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Grey Bruce Paramedic Services (EMS), Bruce County Paramedics, the Chatsworth Fire Department, and South Bruce OPP assisted at the scene.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue to investigate the collision.
