Police recover stash and charge two people for area thefts

Some of the items were stolen from Canada Post mailboxes in The Blue Mountains and Collingwood

Front line officers, as well as members of the Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment and Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have charged two people and recovered a large amount of stolen property as a result of an investigation in relation to thefts in the area. 

The thefts and break and enters took place during the last few months at various construction sites in Springwater Township, Wasaga Beach and The Blue Mountains as well as from Canada Post mailboxes in The Blue Mountains and Collingwood area. The investigation led to the recovery of numerous items including hand tools, power tools, electronics, generators, compressors, small appliances and clothing.

Investigators are continuing to identify victims and have already returned several items to their rightful owners as the investigation continues. 

Charged are:     

  • Thirty-year-old Stephanie Sheppey of The Blue Mountains; she is to appear on July 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood.    
  • Thirty-two-year-old Christopher Millett of Collingwood; he was held for bail on May 4, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie. 

Both are facing numerous charges related to the ongoing investigation.
