Police raid Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, GTA residences, seize cocaine and guns

COLLINGWOOD – Members of the Collingwood and Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) have arrested several parties and seized controlled substances and firearms as a result of a drug trafficking investigation. 

On April 30, 2020, search warrants were executed at three separate residences in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and the Toronto area with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) as well as members of the Nottawasaga OPP CSCU, Southern Georgian Bay OPP CSCU, Orillia OPP CSCU, Caledon OPP CSCU and the OPP Regional Support Team (RST). 

Three persons were arrested and charged as a result, they are: 

Forty-two-year-old Amanda Charlton of Collingwood is charged with possession of cocaine, and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 9, 2020. 

Forty-nine-year-old John Buzza of Collingwood is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 14, 2020. 

Twenty-five-year-old Lethrell Douglas of North York is charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking,
  • Possession Of opioids for the purpose of trafficking; as well as
  • Possession psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking.

He was also charged with:

  • Two counts of Breach of Firearms Regulation-Store firearm or restricted weapon,
  • Two counts of Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Three counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order and;
  • Other firearm related offences.  

He was held for a bail hearing yesterday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.  

In total officers seized of over 1.4 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 180 grams of fentanyl/carfentanyl, 27 grams of psilocybin/mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and over $27,500 in cash, two handguns and ammunition.
