Police make arrest after report of driver with open liquor

Wasaga Beach man faces a slew of charges after OPP pull him over in his vehicle.

WASAGA BEACH - On October 4, 2018, at 3:48 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information from the public that a driver had open liquor in a motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped on Beachwood Road, west of Bluewater Lane. Officers quickly determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

It was also determined the driver was disqualified from driving.

The accused, 51-year-old Byron Brigham of Wasaga Beach, has been charged with:

  • Over 80 section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Drive while disqualified section 259(4) Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Drive while under suspension 53(1) Highway Traffic Act.

  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle 12(1)(d) Highway Traffic Act.

  • Liquor readily available section 32(1) Liquor License Act.

The accused is to appear in Collingwood Court on November 6, 2018, to answer to the above charges.
