Parents charged with aggravated assault after three-month-old suffers severe injuries

SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA - On March 23, 2018, Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a three-month-old female infant who had suffered severe injuries.  

As a result of the investigation by members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Chris Landry of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), police have arrested and charged the parents of the infant.

Both individuals have been charged with Aggravated Assault section 268 and Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life to a Child section 215 (2) (a) (i) of the Criminal Code.

The accused were released on a Recognizance after a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 18, 2019. A publication ban is in effect for the proceedings.
