Ornge helicopter lands on Balsam St. for single-vehicle rollover

Two people were injured in the crash, but were taken to the local hospital and not airlifted from the scene

An air ambulance landed on Balsam St./Highway 26 this afternoon for single-vehicle-collision, but flew away empty as both occupants of the vehicle were taken to the local hospital.

According to the Collingwood Fire Department, a single vehicle went into the ditch at Balsam St./Highway 26 and Harbour Street at about 1 p.m. today and rolled over while also knocking out a hydro pole.

Fire, police, and ambulance responded to the scene, and at least one of the vehicle occupants had to be extracted from the vehicle by firefighters.

Martin Hachey of the Collingwood OPP confirmed the two occupants were taken to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The lights are still out at Balsam St. (Highway 26) and Harbour St. so motorists are reminded to treat it as a four-way stop.
