Orillia man charged with manslaughter following overdose death at Wasaga Beach

Charge comes almost one year after a 31-year-old man was found without vital signs at a Mary Street residence

WASAGA BEACH — Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged an individual in connection to an opioid overdose that claimed the life of a 31-year-old male from Wasaga Beach. 

On March 24, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a call for service at a residence on Mary Street in Wasaga Beach. Upon arrival, the officers located a 31-year-old male with vital signs absent.

As a result of a nearly year-long investigation, George Brazier, 52, of Orillia, has been arrested and charged with Manslaughter, contrary to Section 236(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on March 16, 2021.
