OPP investigation into Collingwood heroin trade results in three arrests

Police say officers also found stolen property in a storage unit

Earlier this year, the Community Street Crime Unit from the Collingwood Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police commenced an investigation with regards to the trafficking of heroin in the Collingwood and surrounding area.

On Thursday May 17, 2018, as a result of the ongoing investigation, the Collingwood OPP Community Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Community Street Crime Units from the Huronia West and Southern Georgian Bay Detachments, along with the Central Region Regional Support Team and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit stopped a motor vehicle in the Town of Collingwood and arrested three people. A search warrant was also executed at a residence located in Tiny Township and at a storage unit associated to this investigation, where a quantity of stolen property was located.

Appearing for a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie is:

Drew Milligan, 31-years old of Tiny Township, Ont. is charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with a probation order, contrary to Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code of Canada
  • Traffic in a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin, contrary to Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Craig Newman, 40-years old of no fixed address is charged with:

  • Traffic in a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin, contrary to Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Jessica Sheerin, 30-years old of Wasaga Beach, Ont. has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on June 26, 2018. She is charged with:

  • Traffic in a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - heroin, contrary to Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The investigation remains ongoing.
