OPP investigate possible arson at Clearview home

Police report it appears suspects threw an incendiary device toward the garage

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP – On June 28, 2020, at approximately 8:11 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a mischief and arson that occurred at a residence on Point Street, in Clearview Township. It was reported that the windows of a vehicle had been broken and the complainant believed that an incendiary device had been found on the property.

Uniform members attended the scene to investigate with members of the Huronia West Crime Unit. OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office (OFM) were called to assist with processing the scene.

Investigation found that at 4:02 a.m., unknown suspects entered onto the property and are believed to have thrown an incendiary device towards the garage. 

The investigation is still ongoing, and is being led by the Huronia West Crime Unit.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public. However, the OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
