Methadone, oxycodone, cocaine seized during Wasaga Beach drug bust

WASAGA BEACH - On April 2, 2020 at approximately 2:37 p.m., members of the Huronia West Crime Unit and Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with assistance from neighbouring OPP CSCU members, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

The warrant was obtained and executed following a drug trafficking investigation initiated by the Huronia West OPP CSCU.

As a result of the investigation, four people were arrested and charged, with 11 criminal charges being laid, including:
    •    Possession of a Schedule I substance - contrary to Section 4(1) of the CDSA
    •    Traffic in Schedule I substance - contrary to Section 5(1) of the CDSA
    •    Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - contrary to Section 5(2) of the CDSA
    •    Fail to comply with Probation Order - contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)

Police located and seized scales, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia, illegally possessed methadone and oxycodone, 6.6 grams of cocaine, and other substances that are awaiting further analysis.

All four accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 16, 2020.
