Man wanted in connection with Wasaga Beach assault

Police issue arrest warrant for Gary Costa in connection with July 30 incident

Members of the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a serious assault in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

On July 30, at approximately 10:20 a.m., OPP officers responded to a 911 call at an address on Cedar Grove Parkway in Wasaga Beach. Officers located a person inside the residence suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

As a result of the investigation, Gary Costa, 39, from Toronto stands to be charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Breach of recognizance
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Assault causing bodily harm — choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Mischief — destroy or damage property
  • Uttering threats — cause death or bodily harm

An arrest warrant for the accused has been issued. Anyone with information on Gary Costa’s whereabouts is urged to not approach him and call police immediately.

There is believed to be no public safety risk, as investigators do not consider this to be a random incident.
