Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating three reported incidents of theft from parked motor vehicles that took place over the weekend near entrances to hiking trails in The Blue Mountains.

In these cases, the suspect(s) gained access to the vehicle by smashing a window and made off with purses and wallets with cash and personal identification and credit cards inside.

Investigation is ongoing however this serves as a good reminder about crime prevention tips from the Lock it or Lose it initiative. This includes not only locking your vehicle doors but adding that extra layer of prevention by removing any valuable items from plain view and moving them to the trunk/cargo area or locked glove box/storage or better yet, leave all those items at home.
