Impaired charges laid following ATV rollover in Grey Highlands

GREY HIGHLANDS - On Oct. 17, 2020 at 3:22 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rollover collision on Sideroad 13B, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. 

OPP officers were assisted at the scene by Grey County Emergency Medical Services. 

The driver lost control and the ATV rolled over, causing both the driver and passenger to be ejected from the ATV. The passenger was transported via ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver failed a roadside screening test and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. They were transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Markdale for a breath test. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Christopher Karaiskos, 24 years of age, from North York, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, causing bodily harm, section 320.14(2) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration, 80 milligrams or more, section 320.14(a)(b) CC.  

The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and the involved ATV was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Nov. 26, 2020.
