Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which took place on Poplar Sideroad yesterday.
The collision took place yesterday Jan. 10, 2021 at approximately 8 p.m. on Poplar Sideroad just east of Raglan Street in Collingwood where an eastbound GMC pickup crossed the centre line and collided head on with a westbound Volkswagen sedan.
The driver of the GMC was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. However, the driver of the Volkswagen, a 37-year-old male from Wasaga Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The roadway was closed for a number of hours as OPP Traffic Collision Investigators were called in to assist with the investigation. The roadway has since reopened and investigation is ongoing.
