Five RIDE checks see 563 drivers

Also respond to 17 crashes on area roadways this weekend

MIDLAND, ON - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) throughout the weekend of July 12-14, 2019 participated in five separate R.I.D.E. check stops on North Simcoe roadways checking 563 drivers and vehicles for drinking and driving offences.

Officers responded and investigated 17 crashes on area roadways including an ATV crash on Tim Court ,Tiny Township. They also responded and investigated 39 traffic complaints, two drivers for Driving Under Suspension, a Stunt Driving offence along with receiving two separate public complaints of possible impaired drivers on our area roadways and waterways whom were both located and arrested.

Officers remind motorists and operators that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways, waterways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority and stress that drivers/operators make the right choice and Never Drive Impaired.
