Driver facing impaired, assault charges

WASAGA BEACH — On Dec. 6 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a motorist for drinking and driving offences after receiving a call for a suspicious person.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, officers were dispatched to the area of Beck and Main streets in Wasaga Beach for a suspicious person in a light blue sedan. Police quickly located the vehicle and upon speaking to the driver it was determined that she was under the influence of alcohol, which led to her arrest and transport to detachment for processing.

Fiona Kerr, 56, of Wasaga Beach, was charged with adult driving while ability impaired—motor vehicle (alcohol and drug), adult fail or refuse to provide sample (alcohol/blood), assault a peace officer, adult mischief—renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective.

She is to appear in Collingwood court on Jan. 8.
