Driver dies after vehicle hits hydro pole

SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP - On Nov. 22, 2019, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a serious collision on Simcoe County Road 9 at Concession 6 and Riverside Drive shortly before 1 p.m.

A single vehicle collided with a hydro pole. The 75-year-old male driver was transported to an area hospital with no vital signs. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

Simcoe County Road 9 will remain closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene. The circumstances surrounding this cause of the collision remain under investigation.
