Collision in Meaford involving OPP cruiser

MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD - On May 9, 2019 at approximately 6:52 p.m., Grey-Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated a motor vehicle collision involving an OPP cruiser in the Municipality of Meaford.

An officer was operating a fully marked OPP cruiser, a Chevrolet Tahoe, eastbound on Sykes Street South in Meaford. The collision occurred when a Toyota vehicle, stopped at the intersection on Boucher Street East, pulled out to make a left turn onto Sykes Street. The Toyota struck the rear bumper of the cruiser which had the right of way. There were no injuries and minor damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota, an 86-year old male from The Blue Mountains, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for - fail to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act.
