Collingwood man charged after reported threat involving firearm

Police arrested the suspect and located a firearm nearby a home in Wasaga Beach where the alleged incident occured

A Collingwood man has been arrested and charged after police were called to a Wasaga Beach home where someone was reportedly threatened by a person with a gun. 

According to a news release from Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police, the call came in at about 7 a.m. on June 7, and "numerous officers responded ... due to the serious nature of the incident." 

On arrival, officers were told the suspect had fled on foot, however, officers searched the area and located and arrested a suspect. Officers plus the canine unit searched the area and found a firearm. 

Lucas Fitzgerald, 29, of Collingwood is now facing charges related to using a firearm while committing a criminal offence, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation, release, and undertaking orders. 

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody awaiting a future court date.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Huronia West Crime Unit and Community Street Crime Unit. Anyone with information or in possession of video from the incident not already obtained by police is asked to call the Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
