Assault charges laid when police called to landlord-tenant dispute

GREY HIGHLANDS – On Aug. 7, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a residence at Main Street West in Markdale for a dispute between a landlord and their tenant.   

OPP officers attended and spoke to both of the involved parties and other witnesses at the scene. There was a heated argument between the landlord and the tenant that escalated to the point that the landlord physically pushed the tenant's arm, knocking their cell phone to the ground. There were no injuries.  

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 59-year-old male, from Grey Highlands with Assault, section 266 Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Oct. 15, 2020.
