Accused faces drug charges following Collingwood manhunt

On Friday May 29, 2020 shortly before 10:30 a.m., members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huronia West OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were assisted by members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) in an attempt to arrest a subject of an ongoing investigation.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 26 in Collingwood, however the driver failed to stop for police. The vehicle was found a short time later where the occupants had fled the scene which led to OPP members searching the area for several hours.

Subsequently, the primary male suspect was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. in Peel Region.

Twenty-year-old Keagan Prophete of Brampton is charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, heroin and opioids) for the purpose of trafficking, and five counts of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, heroin and opioids).

He was held for a bail hearing taking place today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie. Investigation is ongoing.

Officers also seized approximately 18 grams of heroin, 15 grams of purple fentanyl, almost 30 grams of cocaine and over 100 Percocet pills.
