61-year-old man struck and killed by vehicle near Blue Mountain

COLLINGWOOD AND THE BLUE MOUNTAINS OPP

Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched last night to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in The Blue Mountains.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on August 16th 2019 OPP officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Grey Road 19 near Jozo Weider Boulevard in The Blue Mountains. Investigation found that a male pedestrian was crossing Grey Road 19 when he was struck by a west bound SUV.

The pedestrian, a 61 year-old male from The Blue Mountains, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene to document the occurrence however alcohol is not considered as a factor in this collision.

Investigation is ongoing and a post mortem is scheduled to take place at a later date at the Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto.
