19-year-old charged with impaired driving in Wasaga Beach

On April 28, 2020 at approximately 18:19 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a motorist for drinking and driving offences after receiving a call for a suspected impaired driver in Beach Area 1, Wasaga Beach.

As a result of the investigation, Julia Chappell, 19 years old of Barrie, Ont., was arrested and charged with the following offences:
    •    CC 320.14(1)(b) - adult operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    HTA 44.1(3) - adult novice driver - B.AC. above zero
    •    LLA 32(1) - adult driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on May 26, 2020.

The OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
