19-year-old accused of driving more than 55 km/h over speed limit

WASAGA BEACH - On Oct. 18, 2018 around 11:10 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Policem charged a male motorist with stunt driving on County Rd 7 in Wasaga Beach. The vehicle accelerated southbound exceeding the posted speed limit of 80 km/hr. The radar registered a speed in excess of 135 km/hr.

A 19-year-old male from Hanover, Ont. was subsequently charged with;

  • Drive motor vehicle perform stunt, 135 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Fail to surrender insurance card contrary to Section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The driver will appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 20, 2018 to answer to the charge.
