Police say fire deliberately set at Toronto restaurant killed 18-year-old man

TORONTO — Police in Toronto are investigating after an 18-year-old man died from a fire at a restaurant early Saturday.

Investigators allege the fire at Slam Restaurant was deliberately set.

They say officers arrived at the scene on Saturday around 3 a.m. and found the man with injuries as a result of the fire.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man has been identified as Shahriyar Safarian of Richmond Hill, Ont.

Police say they're investigating the case as a homicide.
