SHORTT, Leia Teresa

Leia Teresa Shortt slipped away, peacefully, from our family, at Collingwood Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 9, in her 97th year.  She was one of 13 children, born and raised in Cochrane, Ontario, by her parents Maria and Gaetano Calaiezzi.  Mother had a good life and was held up on a pedestal by her loving, caring husband, Lloyd Shortt, until his passing in 2000.  She leaves behind her devoted daughter Valerie McKean, beloved sons Larry Shortt (Gloria) and Ron Shortt (Gerri).  She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Traci-Lynn McKean-Dobbs (Fred), Niki-Lynn Moore (Dave), Joshua Shortt (Kim), Meghan Shortt (Jeff), Morgan Shortt (Kevin); her great grandchildren Brook, Boden, Jessica (Jason), Wyatt, Samantha, Quinn, Jude, Arlo; her great, great grandchildren Alex and Riley.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 19 at 3:30PM, at the Church of Christ, 494 Tenth Street, Collingwood.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the women's shelter, My Friends House, www.myfriendshouse.ca or through Chatterson Funeral Home, (705) 445-4700
