Died on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 93. Irene of Stayner, beloved wife of the late John Scott (2009). Loving mother of Brenda (Harold Hore), Bill (Charmaine), the late Bob (2015), Jayne (Rob Peacock), Tom (Jill) and Janeen (Rob Leal). Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Darryl, Tyler, Justin, Brody, Christy, Leyna, Kyle and Jena and great grandmother of Hannah, David, Riley, Owen, Sullivan, Sutton, Lennox, Lincoln, Benner, Hudson and Livi. Dear sister of Ralph (Muriel) Benner, Verna (the late Jack Thomson, the late Frank (late Shirley) Benner, late Dorothy (late Ross Young) and Caryl (Cecil, Byers). Irene will also be missed by her dear friend Don Giles of Orillia, her entertaining Yorkie Brody, her nieces, nephew, and her many friends. Irene was a warm and friendly woman who loved to share a laugh and perhaps a prank or two. She had a love for music and enjoyed countless hours playing piano and singing gospel songs. She was a dedicated member of the Stayner First Baptist Church, where she sang in their choir and also sang with the Ontario Presbyterian Chorus travelling as far as Scotland to perform. Over the years, Irene enjoyed local auctions, skating, bowling and travelling. Irene and John enjoyed the family cottage, first at Brocks Beach in Wasaga Beach and then on Bass Lake near Orillia where family would gather and create memories. After retirement, John and Irene spent many winters in Avon Park, Florida. Her smile and love for life will be deeply missed. Her family will gather for a private graveside ceremony at Knox Presbyterian Cemetery, Oro.
